Querying Webinar (The Art of the Query)

Literary Agent Claire Harris represents a wide range of fiction and nonfiction for adults. She loves working with writers throughout all stages of their careers, whether they're debut authors or already have multiple books under their belts. She has worked on and represented bestsellers on various lists, including the New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly. She loves helping authors find ways to strengthen their query letters, especially since it's such an important part of the querying process.

This 90-minute webinar will cover everything you want to know about the art of the query, including:

>> how to open your letter

>> the dos and donts of comp titles

>> ideal word counts for a variety of genres

>> how to come up with a title for your project

>> the all-important plot paragraph (*this will be a significant focus*)

>> what to emphasize in your bio

>> examples of what does / doesn't work throughout

>> overall querying advice

>> how to know if you should query a specific agent or not

>> a Q&A portion

Anyone working on a query letter or interested in learning more is invited to attend.

If you cannot attend live but wish to watch the webinar, please sign up as the recording will be emailed to you 24hr later. Recordings will be available to the viewer for one month.

Manuscript Academy Panel

Manuscript Academy Panel

Join us for a queries and first pages panel with agent Claire Harris (P.S. Literary Agency). Submit your work for a chance at live feedback from our panel--plus, of course, a publishing Q&A. This event is designed to be supportive, uplifting, encouraging--and 100% introvert-friendly. (Wear pajamas! We'll never know.)

Queries and pages will be chosen at random, then given three minutes of feedback, so we can get through as many as possible.

A replay will be available 15 minutes after the end of the event, and we'll send the link to submit your work when we register. This event will work on your smartphone, tablet, or laptop.
